The Malaysian Insider

The Malaysian Insider

The video gaming field is undergoing explosive growth. More High Speed Portable Internet more people are getting on board with the video gaming lifestyle Broadband Internet Service Provider buying the new consoles which bring so many entertainment options right in to their own homes. In 2007, estimated sales of video gaming consoles were in the neighborhood of $480,000,000! A large part of this total figure is accounted for by sales of the Nintendo Wii.

Sadly, the Nintendo Wii has been difficult to come by for many, given the unprecedented level of demand for this console. There have been waiting lists for the Nintendo Wii which are months long! Video gaming enthusiasts are less than thrilled by the situation.

Since its release last year, Nintendo Wii availability has been nothing short of dismal around the holiday season. If one of the people on your shopping list was hoping for a Wii, they may end up being disappointed. Nintendo has tried to keep pace with the demand for this system, but it has been nearly impossible to do this because of the overwhelming demand on the part of video gamers for this revolutionary console.

Finding a Nintendo Wii has been more difficult in some parts of the world than in others. In the UK, stores have has considerable trouble keeping the consoles in stock ever since their release. Since the beginning of the year though, Nintendo Wii availability has been slowly increasing. It is now a possibility to go into a store and emerge with a Nintendo Wii console, which has been an unlikely event before now.

Problems With Nintendo Wii Availability:

  • Holiday rush - The holiday Wireless Adsl Modem Router created a demand for the Nintendo Wii which far outstripped the supply of these popular consoles, creating a shortage worldwide.
  • Disappointment for gamers - the lack of Nintendo Wii availability led to a lot of long faces this past holiday season.
  • Scams - criminals took advantage of the unprecedented demand for the Nintendo Wii by perpetrating swindles on unsuspecting gamers.
  • Deceptive marketing - unscrupulous shop owners used deceptive tactics to sell more Nintendo Wii gaming consoles.

Deceptive Marketing and Controversial Sales Tactics

Some unscrupulous retailers were using deceptive strategies to sell more Wii consoles during the early days of Nintendo Wii availability in the UK. Knowing that the Wii was difficult to find, some retailers used the old "this is the last one in stock" trick to get customers to buy immediately based on the scarcity of the item rather than thinking about the purchase.

Other retailers overstated their inventory levels and promised Nintendo Wii availability at a certain date - which ended up getting them into trouble when the Wii consoles were not there at the time which they had been promised to customers.

The low availability of the Nintendo Wii at the beginning led a lot of consumers to fall for the plots of swindlers. On more than one occasion, swindlers sold a Nintendo Wii either through a website of their own or via online auction sites. The customer, eager to get their hands on a Wii before everyone else would pay and then receive a box full of bricks rather than a Nintendo Wii as a result of being taken in by this swindle.

Now that the Wii has become more widely available, these sorts of scams are now rare. Nintendo Wii should continue to become more and more available and soon there will be no more waiting lists for the exciting gaming console, no matter what time of year it is and where you live.

We need leadership

NOV 14 ?Anybody can claim to be a leader. A racial bigot. An adulterer. A corrupter. A sexist. A flip-flop. internet dating uk list goes on. However, what we need are not mere self-proclaimed leaders.

We need LEADERSHIP.

Our race relations are broken. Our politics is distasteful and flawed. Our economy and those who help to run it are lost and misguided. Many things are not right about Web Plan country. Alas, many of us who hold the same pathetic view of Streamyx Slow country take very different approaches to addressing the problems. The majority may choose to bolt and many more choose to whine.

Business history has an abundance of instances of business failures on account of lack of proper marketing planning. It is extremely important in the case of Internet marketing to plan marketing strategies properly. Marketing planning provides the framework for all business decisions of an enterprise ?decisions on markets, decisions on products and decisions on manufacturing facilities, investments and organizational structure.

Marketing planning is the interface between the enterprise and its market/customers. Internet marketing places the consumer at both the beginning and the end of the business process and that any firm practicing marketing in the proper sense has to identify correctly the needs of the consumer, translate the needs into suitable products and services, deliver those products and services to the total satisfaction of the consumer and through this process generate profits for the firm.

Marketing planning is the instrument through which all these tasks get accomplished. The quality of marketing planning is revealed in the success of all marketing activities. Obviously, considerable thought, expertise and effort have to go into the process of marketing planning.

The marketing planner first scans the environment followed by an internal scanning of his unit, its strength and weaknesses and assesses to what extent his marketing organization is equipped to pursue the various opportunities emerging in the environment. Then he formulates the marketing objectives and marketing strategies. And finally, he formulates the detailed functional plans in each aspect of the total marketing task.

As the first step in the marketing planning process, the firm scans its marketing environment. The main purpose of this exercise is to find out the favorable and unfavorable factors prevailing in the environment and the specific business opportunities available to the business unit and their relative attractiveness. In the case of marketing planning, environmental scanning focuses on the environment of the business unit in question and its scope is limited to the business in question.

Verizon Wireless DayPass – Xohm’s Selling Points Weaken!

One of the supposedly big selling points of Xohm – Sprint Nextel (now Clearwire) – WIMAX service was the availability of flexible pricing models that does not tie the customer for an entire month. For example, it looks like they Celcom Broadband Wireless a Daily On-the-Go service that provides 24 Broadband Internet Access of continuous Internet service. They have

As Apple seeks to move 10 million iPhones by the end of 2008, cell repair services ramp up preparation for iPhone repairs, anticipating that many consumers won't seek repairs through Apple's official avenues. Although Apple typically warranties all iPhones for one calendar year from the date of purchase, several factors contribute to the likelihood that consumers will turn instead to alternative options for their iPhone repair needs.

* Accidental damage: Apple doesn't cover iPhone repairs if they're damaged (physically or otherwise) by an accident.

* Unauthorized use / modifications: Apple's insistence that the iPhone be internet security 2009 restricted motivated many iPhone owners to modify their iPhones, adding services and functions that remain unauthorized by Apple. Even if these modifications aren't the root cause of your iPhone's problem, Apple isn't going to cover an iPhone under warranty if it's been tampered with.

* Excessive service times: Apple's site lists a typical service time of three business days (not counting shipping) for most iPhone repairs.

* Excessive repair prices: Stories abound online about Apple's pricing structures; consumers seem particularly concerned with the touchscreen, which can cost between two and three hundred dollars to replace (and isn't typically covered under the warranty).

* High replacement costs: For hardware problems not covered under the warranty, Apple charges fees of $199-$299 for replacement phones. iPhone repair services attempt to undercut this price by actually repairing the phone, rather than replacing it.

Unlike many cell phones, which are simple to replace, an iPhone represents a significant financial investment. Don't get stuck with an iPhone that doesn't live up to the hype after shelling out the money for the nation's premier dataphone, and don't be discouraged by the seeming repair monopoly that currently exists. Instead, locate a licensed, experienced iPhone repair service, and let them resurrect your iPhone with efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Text Messaging - An Indispensable Mobile Phone Feature

Short Messaging Service (SMS), otherwise known as text messaging, is a built-in feature of mobiles phones. It was originally intended to help hearing-impaired individuals to communicate and have access to cellular telephone technology.

Today, text messaging has become many things for many people. For some, it's a polite way of communicating to someone in a meeting or who is otherwise unavailable to receive a call. For others, it is a quick alternative to email, or a fun way to chat and flirt with various people.

Texting is a noiseless way of talking to people in places where silence is strictly enforced. A girl watching a movie in a theater would just text his dad to pick her up a littler later. She will be disturbing Broadband Offer audience if she calls up her dad instead.

The SMS technology has several features that each frequent text user should know to be able to maximize broadband isp ratings use of this mobile phone feature:

Validity. When a friend sends Celcom Center Malaysia a text and your mobile phone happens to be offline, either you ran out of batteries or just switched your phone off, your message is temporarily stored in the message center. It will be forwarded to you when your phone goes back online.

You can specify the validity period on your phone such that when the period expires, all messages in the message center that are addressed to you will not be forwarded to the recipient's mobile number once it goes online. The default validity of mobile phone text messages is set to 'maximum' and this validity period is determined by your network or wireless carrier.

Submission Reports. If this feature is activated, in Tmcommy text message you send, you will receive a status message at the message center. A positive submission report informs that his message has been successfully sent. Otherwise, you will receive an error message with an advice to retry sending.

Delivery Reports. You will receive a report in your inbox for every text message successfully sent. Upon receiving your text message, the recipient mobile number alerts the system of the receipt and your message center reports back to you.

Using all of these SMS features on your phone, especially the Submission and Delivery Reports might seem like a hassle but can actually be very useful features. This is especially when sending important messages.

A submission report can tell you of failed sending attempts. You might want to retry sending or try other means to reach the recipient. Delivery reports could ascertain receipt of your message. If they did not receive the message, you could again choose to resend the message or just call and leave a voicemail.

All these SMS features enhance communication and prevent misunderstanding due to a faulty network. For what it is worth, text messaging or SMS is definitely an indispensable feature that makes mobile phone technology even more useful and handy.

Case Study: WhatsUp keeps Legoland turnstyles ringing

Frame Relay is a data transmission protocol. It gets its name because it places data, and the information required to transmit it properly, Adsl Setup a "frame" that is made up of several fields. It places the data to be transmitted into a specific field, surrounded by four other fields, which contain information about where the data frame should go and how it should be handled. A user installs dedicated circuits to connect its locations to the Frame Relay network of their carrier. Then, the carrier utilizes what's known as "Permanent Virtual Circuits" or "PVCs" to transmit the data within the network.

The main advantage of Frame Relay over point-to-point is that it enables you to only need one connection from each site to enable you to be linked to all sites. For example, if I have 4 offices that all need to be connected to each other (called a "meshed" network"), I would need 6 circuits. But, with frame relay, I need only 4. Frame Relay enables me to do that job with 1/3 fewer circuits. Plus a user can also connect a PVC to the Internet in order to incorporate BOTH its LAN/WAN networking and its Internet Bandwidth needs into a single network architecture.

When buying Frame Relay, the user will select the bandwidth of the PVCs that it purchases. This is the "fixed" data speed, or bandwidth, that they have. The user can also select a "burstable" bandwidth / data rate. Burstable means that on an as-needed basis you can "burst" to a higher speed, and only pay for that additional bandwidth when you actually use it.

One example of this is that a client has a normal ongoing need for 512 kbps of bandwidth among its locations. Plus, once a month it backs-up all data from each site to the main site, which requires a "burst" to 1.544 mbps for a few hours to accomplish the data transfers. In a point-to-point service, the client would be forced to buy 1.544 mbps bandwidth to all locations, even though it would only be fully utilized once each month. For this and similar reasons, Frame Relay has been the predominant type of data communications service for business for many years.

So what does a client need? It depends upon a number of factors, but mostly (1) how many locations do they need to network, and (2) what types of communications do they want to use the network for. Today, very few firms are looking at implementing Frame Relay unless they already have it in place. New installations are typically choosing between MPLS and Carrier Ethernet options. I will not seek to get into detail on these other two services cheapest voip in this post, but suffice it to say that if a client only has two or three sites they may be fine with point-to-point, or just connecting via Internet and using Internet-based applications to accomplish their voice and data communications. If they have more locations, signficiant bandwidth needs, and/or a desire to perform voice, data, and video communications among the sites, they are most likely better off with MPLS, mostly because MPLS will enable them to control quality of service, which is most critcal when utilizing mixed services, and real-time services such as voice and video.

In laymens terms ..... I'll try to simplify even further.

1. With a point to point connection you have paid for a connection between two points. You pay a committed rate for that connection per year, or per month. There are several variables that affect the cost.

A) How far apart are the two points
B) Do multiple telecommunications carriers connect the points or just one carrier
C) Are the points in different Cities, States, Countries, Continents
D) How fast do you want the connection to be
E) Do you want the connection always available or only available when you request it (e.g. ISDN or even dial-up --- they are both versions of point to point, just tempoary)

2. With Frame Relay, or MPLS or ATM or any other number of shared connection systems .... you are buying only the "last mile" of your connection on both ends, while you are sharing the middle with other users. You pay your network carrier to segregate the traffic inside the middle (typically described as a "cloud" because it's an abstract concept, your network provider can implement it any way they need to) and to provide you guaranteed bandwidth. Some carriers will sell you the ability to "burst" your speed higher so that you can occasionally (but not always) use higher speeds on demand. Your connection speed is limited by the lower of either the "last mile" connection speed on either end or by the committed rate you bought from the carrier. The carrier will use a name like CIR, Committed Information Rate to describe the rate you have purchased.

A) Distance not really a determiner of price
B) Do multiple telecommunications carriers connect the points or just one carrier (you still have to pay last mile charges on both ends)
C) Are the points in different Cities, States, Countries, Continents (could affect tariffed rates and taxation, plus regulatory)
D) How fast do you want the connection to be
E) Usually you are paying for an always on connection, called a permanent virtual circuit. You really only consume network resources when you send data but it's always there for you immediately.

3. Finally you can stop paying for that part in the middle completely by using Virtual Private Networks across the Internet. In this case you still have to pay for access on both sides, but nobody pays for the middle. There are of course some tradeoffs:

A) Since nobody is guaranteeing the middle, you are on your own to support it and troubleshoot it
B) Your traffic will comingle with public internet traffic. It's up to you to ensure it is secure. You do this by employing a well regarded cryptographic protocol and a very strong initial encryption key.

In short, Point to Point is best to ensure data, but Frame Relay is more cost effective. Analysis of what the requirements are will determine the actual need for one versus the other and defines the ROI (Return on Investment) for the application requirements once defined. For help in working through this analysis to find the right solution for you .... I suggest using the free assistance available through DS3-Bandwidth.com.

HD iPlayer available on Virgin Media

Virgin Media add BBC iPlayer HD Broadband Deal their on-demand TV based iPlayer service.

Approximately 4 million people in the UK use ADSL with an extra 2 million using a cable connection, meaning 6 million people in the UK have an always-on internet connection. Of these over 1.7 million are subscribed to BTs broadband package, making them the UKs main broadband provider.

Back in August 2000 BT first launched its high-speed internet connection to customers. Initially only available to around one third of UK households and costing 500 a year it was the first step in many to Broadband Britain.

There are currently only 2 ways to connect to ADSL in the UK. Recently a technique called Local Loop Unbundling means you dont need to have a BT phone line, but at the moment only 1% of people on broadband in the UK use this method. The only other way to connect transforms an existing BT phone line into a high-speed digital line. This Tmnet Streamyx Online Malaysia only available with a BT phone line though, so even if you dont subscribe to BTs package your ISP still has to pay BT money to maintain and connect your line. Because of this BT has been able to dictate the availability of broadband in the UK for a few years now.

For fear that UK telecoms watchdog Ofcom would break-up the company because they held a monopoly by owning all the phone lines and means to connect to broadband, BT has agreed to offer rival companies access to the Local Loop? which is the network of telephone lines around the country. By doing this BT could stand to lose many customers as other companies can offer their broadband directly and without having to pay BT expenses.

Since the introduction of ADSL in the UK many potential customers found their local exchanges were simply out of date and the lines too old to be able to handle this new technology. Campaigns run country-wide as BT will only upgrade exchanges if there is adequate interest. ADSL is still not available in many villages and more rural areas of Britain but BT is vastly expanding and upgrading its network to try and cover all the country, Broadband is currently available in more than 96.6% of all UK households.

BTs standard package is streamyx web with a 1 GB monthly download limit. This means you can only download 1 GBs worth of content, be it WebPages, music or movies, a month. This is more than enough for typical WebPages, but excessive music downloads will result in your account being suspended or limited for the rest of the month. You can upgrade your broadband to a 15 GB monthly limit for a little extra a month. BT also offers Pay As You Go dialup and unlimited dialup contracts.

BT Broadband also offers a variety of packages and upgrades designed to suit every user. You can upgrade to a gaming account to play xbox and PS2 games online, you can setup parental filters for your children, and theres protection against spam, junk mail, pop-ups, viruss and online intruders.

One of the main reasons people will continue to signup to BT is its reliability. They have broken the mould of all ISPs having poor customer service and are incredibly helpful with setting up your connection.

BT are aiming to trail their 8Mbps connection soon, intending it to be in common use by the end of the year. BTs ultimate goal is making broadband available throughout the country, including rural areas.

The Nintendo Wii has streamyx acc barely hit retail stores, and already the homebrew scene is fast at work. Creating not only killer applications and homebrew games, but also developing (or at least helping develop) the worlds first Nintendo Wii streamyx dlink chip(s). In this article I am going to discuss Nintendo Wii Mod Chips and give some of the features, pros and cons of the 3 different Nintendo Wii Mod Chips that have just recently been released.

The good news for Nintendo Wii gamers is that regardless of which Nintendo Wii mod chip you buy - you'll have mobile broadband the basics with each one. You Computer Security Test be able to play all Nintendo Wii Backup games (on DVD-R or DVD+R discs) and can use 8cm or 12cm DVD discs. You will also be able to play all Gamecube Backup games, import games as well as Gamecube Homebrew games. It really gets down to installation of the Nintendo Wii Mod chip and the features and functions, and future upgrade options of each Wii mod chip.

What is even more surprising with these best internet tv Nintendo Wii Mod chips is the internet availability that they're being usb modem rental for. I remember quite clearly the days of the very first Playstation 2 mod chips, costing in excess of $90.00 US Dollars. It seems the Wii chips have opted instead for a lower entry price, in an effort to gain a greater piece of the Homebrew / Development / Modchip market. compare broadband providers prices range anywhere from $44.00 to just over $50.00, depending on the chip you decide to buy.

At present, there are actually 3 different Nintendo Wii Mod chips which will hit the market and online stores within the next week or so. While many online news sources seem to focus on just 2 of the 3 mod chips, perhaps because they're unaware that there is a third chip in the making, I'm going to cover all 3 of the mod chips in the hopes of enabling you, the gamer, to make the buying decision that's right for you. And after reading this article, I honestly believe that your decision will be based solely on price, and perhaps the option of an upgrade (or lack of) for the Wii Mod Chips.

Wiinja Nintendo Wii Mod Chip
The Wiinja Nintendo Wii Mod chip was actually the very first Wii chip to hit the market. While many online news sources seem to disregard this chip, it is still the very first and one of the easiest mod chips to install for the Nintendo Wii. Like the other mod chips for the Wii, the Wiinja will enable you to play all Wii and Gamecube Backup games, as well as Wii Import backup games, and original import games with just a single swap. Gamecube Import and Homebrew games are fully supported. While the other mod chips promise that their modchips, in time, will have their own custom OS to enable additional features, the Wiinja chip does not make this claim. In fact, they have stated that their chip is not meant to be upgraded. Stealth mode is still built in, even into this mod chip, and whether or not the lack of an upgrade feature is a deterrent is entirely up to you, the user. Often times many modchip manufacturers claim upgrade features, but then they lack the support for the upgrades, which tend to come out very rarely, if ever at all.

WiiKey Nintendo Wii Modchip
The manufacturer hype states the following: Unlock your Nintendo Wii with the worlds first truly upgradeable Nintendo Wii Mod Chip. The WiiKey for Nintendo Wii is made by the famous xenoGC team, responsible for the xenoGC Gamecube line of mod chips, and now, with their WiiKey, Wii owners can enjoy all the benefits of a team of great developers with a truly upgradeable Nintendo Wii Mod chip. The WiiKey comes ready to use, and offers an almost wireless installation. When they say almost wireless, what this essentially means is that there are Quick Solder pads for the chip. This method enables you, the gamer, to simply position the chip in the correct place on the Mother board of the Wii, in order to then apply a little bit of solder with a soldering iron. The WiiKey chip does however also require that you solder 4 wires to the specified places on the Wii motherboard. The WiiKey mod chip was the first chip that boasted full upgradeability through DVD-R discs to which you can burn / backup the new firmware updates, put The DVD in to your Nintendo Wii, and it will run and update the chip. Once again, the WiiKey also supports loading of both Wii and Gamecube backup games and import backup games. Original import games can be played as well, with a simple, single swap methos. Gamecube Homebrew games are also supported. Whether or not this mod chip will end up with it's own custom OS is something we'll just have to take a wait and see approach with. However, it offers everything you want, for a VERY reasonable price.

And finally, the last Nintendo Wii mod chip (often claimed to be the very FIRST Nintendo Wii Modchip) is the only chip in this round up that actually does not require any wires at all.

CycloWiz Nintendo Wii Mod Chips
The major advatange, or selling feature of the CycloWiz Nintendo Wii mod chip is in how it's installed. Unlike the other 2 mod chips in this round up, the CycloWiz actually does not require you to solder any wires to the Wii mainboard. In fact, much like the WiiKey, you'll simply use Quick Solder pads which are strategically placed in the design of the CycloWiz to enable you to simply position the chip on the Nintendo Wii Mainboard, and gently put some solder onto the points. This will make the required connections, and the chip will simply be installed, with absolutely no need figure out where wires are to be soldered or whether or not you've got the right type of wires, etc... The CycloWiz is also a fully upgradeable modchip, with promised firmware updates for the chip from the manufacturer. Again, I want to stress that firmware updates may not at all be required and perhaps may not come for some time. I myself do however like the idea that the chip will not be outdated should some new function or requirement become the norm.

To sum it all up, all of the Nintendo Wii Mod chips boast the features below. The only exception to this is the upgrade feature which is NOT available on the Wiinja chip. Take a look at the features, and decide for yourself which Wii mod Chip is right for you.

  • Fully upgradeable via DVD/disc (future proof, expect cool features to come)

  • Direct boot of Wii backups (like originals)

  • Direct boot of GC backups (like originals)

  • Boots different region GC games/backups

  • Boots different NTSC region Wii games/backups

  • Supports multi-disc games

  • Supports DVD-R and DVD+R

  • Built-in audio fix (for games using streaming audio)
